Worming Pregnant Bitches

NB. Since writing this article Panacur Favourites are no longer available.

Puppies are born with roundworms which even regular worming throughout their lives will not eliminate completely. Worms pass across the placenta from the bitch before pups are born as well as in the milk while feeding from their mother.

Effective worming of the pregnant bitch will greatly reduce the number of worms passed.

Here are a number of questions that we are asked:

A. There is little purpose in this

Q. Then when should I worm the bitch then ?

A. For 25 days starting from day 40 of the pregnancy until two days post whelping

Q. What is the best product to use ?

A. Panacur is the only wormer licensed to use in this way

Q. Should I use Panacur granules, Panacur Liquid or Panacur paste for dogs ?

Q.What is the correct dose to give ?
